We work with a select number of clients at any given time. That's intentional. Our value is in the depth of engagement, not the breadth of the client list. When you work with Buttonwood, you get the principals — not a team of analysts running your engagement.
The name Buttonwood is a reference to the Buttonwood Agreement of 1792 — the founding compact of American capital markets, signed under a buttonwood tree on Wall Street. It represents the kind of direct, trust-based relationships that underpin serious commerce. That's the standard we hold ourselves to.
The firm's principal brings over three decades of experience across real estate development, investment, and capital markets. He has structured and closed transactions across the full capital stack — from ground-up development to institutional portfolio acquisitions — in markets across the country.
Prior to founding Buttonwood, he held senior roles at regional development firms and national investment platforms, where he led strategy, capital formation, and asset management for portfolios spanning office, multifamily, industrial, and mixed-use assets.
He has advised on transactions and workouts through multiple market cycles, including the 2008 financial crisis and the post-pandemic dislocation — experience that informs every engagement at Buttonwood.
